This Nap is NOT Happening

We installed a camera in Jude's room a couple months ago. The idea being that we'd be able to keep an eye on him while he's playing (alone and with other kids), and occasionally check in on him while he's sleeping or trying to nap.

Today we thought we heard a little scuffle in his room. We popped open the iPad, fired up the camera app, and this is what we saw:

  2. Look who's a big Internet star. Was sitting in a waiting room this morning and saw Jude's video. Been following your blog for 2 years now and was thrilled to know the video before the rest of the world did;).

  3. So funny, I saw it on Facebook. Would you mind telling me what kind of webcam and app you are using? I want to get one for my daughters room and you have the best picture on yours I would love to know what brand and model you are using and which app you are running. I would really appreciate it!

    1. thanks for sharing the model. i commented on your youtube curious what you used. woulda guessed foscam. the reviews are all over the place & i've had it in my amazon shopping cart a half dozen times.

what ipad/iphone app are you using?

did you need any tech support setting it up? easy/hard? lagtime? app crashing?

    2. It's actually a Foscam Camera, model FI8910W. It came with some simple software, and we can pan/tilt using our computer. The app is the Baby Monitor free app. There's a $5 version that allows you to pan and tilt, etc but we haven't upgraded yet. It was a little tricky getting the monitor to synch up wit hour network, but so far so good!

  5. Thanks for following, Heather. We always wonder who checks in on us regularly. We're just glad people think our little guy is as funny (and special) as we do!

  6. Hi Ashleigh and John

We laughed so hard when we saw the "nap not happening" piece.
Just thinking about it brings an instant smile.
Have a happy life Jude. Perhaps some day you'll meet our son ilo. He's six now.

  7. I love this! I write about kids and sleep - just shared your (viral? Woo hoo!) video on my FB page with this comment as I was hoping it would make you smile:)

This video is really funny. Jude (the non-napper in question) just turned 2. Two year olds OFTEN fight naps. Don't fall for this - it's a phase. I promise you they still need to nap. His parents are doing 3 awesome things here: 1) sharing so we can laugh too 2) letting him do what he's going to do (not running in to meddle) 3) having a good laugh about it.

  8. I saw this on Facebook and had a good laugh! I also have a son named Jude, and he's almost 4 now. He would also do anything to avoid taking a nap. Still does. My other son Lyle is almost 2, and he never resists nap time. Maybe Jude's just don't like naps! :)

  10. Is the baby wearing glasses? I can't tell. If not, the reflecting eyes concern me. Get your baby checked for retinoblastoma (eye cancer) NOW.

    2. Okay, thanks for the explanation. Never claimed to be a genius, only concerned. It appeared to be what my parents noticed in my brother's eye while in a darkened room with a light in the background. Some get it in both eyes. Caught in time, he only lost an eye and not his life. Thought I'd mention it just in case.

  12. Did you guys notice something else besides your child acting strange in this video?
My son is 7 months and sometimes he does not sleep and cries a lot and I realized a light moving very fast in his bedroom just like in the video of his son.

  13. This is the best video I think I've ever watched. I laughed so hard. I love when he holds his arms to his side and falls straight, hilarious! It's on one of my Pinterest boards titled 'LOL'. I go back to it when I need a laugh and it works everytime! I'm a grandma and had to send this to my daughter, along with everyone else I know! Thank you for sharing this.
Wishing Jude many more happy times in his life. :)
